Smartwatches and fitness bands aren't really your thing and you yawn from the core of your soul when you hear about wearables?

Maybe this futuristic device might help you have a change of heart. Startup Thalmic is currently pushing the final stages of completion for its Myo gesture-control armband.

That sounds a little bit more complex than the norm and it actually is. The device will supposedly be able to pick up electrical impulses sent through your arm’s muscle tissue and translate those impulses into computerized info via Bluetooth.

The Myo is made of a bunch of black rectangular modules that go around your arm. Judging by the images teasing the device, the Myo still looks a little bit bulky and raises questions related to what might happen in case you over-wear it.

The device is pretty lightweight, though, as it’s situated just at 95g / 0.2 lbs. You’ll supposedly be able to control your phone, computer, video games and other electronic devices around the house, based on impulses coming from your muscles.

The final designs will start shipping out as part of the Myo Developer Kit for developers. The non-dev kits will start making their way into non-dev land starting this September to consumers who have pre-ordered the products ahead.
