A billboard featuring tattooed Jesus is drawing a lot of buzz in West Lubbock, Texas. Naturally, many people are protesting, asking for it to be taken down and calling it “derogatory.”

The ad was paid for by a group trying to promote religion. Their model is standing with his arms opened wide, imitating the crucifixion.

In the billboard, Jesus has “Outcast,” “Addicted,” “Jealous” and “Faithless” tattooed on his body.

“We are not a church. We are not selling anything. We encourage you to tell as many people as possible. That's it,” the message on the religious group's website reads.

David Wilson, senior pastor at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, supports the billboard. He tells ABC News that he dubs it a clever way to bring people of different backgrounds to church.
