A high-school student in Texas now officially holds the record for bagging the largest gator ever caught in the state.

Braxton Bielski is a senior at Cinco Ranch High School, and his record catch weighs 800 pounds (363 kg). The giant gator has been measured at 14 feet, 3 inches (434 cm), Digital Journal mentions.

It has been captured using raw chicken meat as bait on the James E. Daughtrey Wildlife Management Area in the Choke Canyon Reservoir.

Braxton's dad tells reporters how he has tried entering his son in the hunt for years, and this is the first time when he has succeeded.

“This is the first year we've had to enter him as an adult and we got drawn,” the record holder's proud father, Troy Bielski, says.
