Atari, as the publisher, has said that their racing title Test Drive Unlimited 2 is set to be released on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and on the PC will be released on February 8, 2011.

Initially the racing game, which is being developed by Eden Games, was set to come out during September of this year and Atari announced that it has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2011.

Atari says that the new launch date gives the developers more time in order to polish the multiplayer experience on home gaming consoles.

Atari also detailed some of the pre order deals that gamers will be able to get for Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Getting the racing game at GameStop will result in players gaining access to the Casino Online downloadable content pack while those who go to Amazon, Best Buy, Atari.com, Direct 2 Drive, K-Mart, Steam or Wal-Mart for their purchase of Test Drive Unlimited 2 will receive an exclusive car.

Presumably this exclusive pre order content will also be launched as regular DLC after the game is officially out.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 will allow gamers to experience racing on the Spanish island of Ibiza, best known for its party scene than for its racing track, but those who are nostalgic can also hop back to Oahu, the location of the first game, which has been updated for a better racing experience.

As all new driving games the title will add new vehicles, new race types and a new feature which will allow gamers to team with friends in racing clubs as long as they are online.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 will come in the slipstream of other big racing launches like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, from Criterion and Electronic Arts, and Gran Turismo 5 from Polyphony Digital and Sony.
