Teri Hatcher, whom fans know and love from the highly popular series “Desperate Housewives,” is also a very accomplished editor with renowned publications like Glamour UK and Newsweek. Tapping into her experience as an editor, Disney has offered the star another challenge with the aim of expanding its audience: that of handling content for its new website that will target exclusively women, MediaWeek informs.

GetHatched.com will be part of the DisneyFamily.com and will see that Disney broadens its audience by incorporating women, a segment that has been overlooked until now. Teri will come in very handy for this purpose, offering ladies tips on how to handle a myriad of situations without patronizing or claiming to be an expert – real experts will also be hired for editorials, Disney says. Instead, the actress will leave her mark on every piece of writing by showing that humor is all that it takes to come out of a situation with one’s chin up.

“This spring the company will launch GetHatched.com (subtitled ‘A Chick’s Guide to Life’), a site produced by DisneyFamily.com that will be editorially driven by Hatcher, who besides a long acting career has authored the advice book Burnt Toast and Other Philosophies of Life and regularly contributes to magazines such as Glamour UK and Newsweek. A single mother, Hatcher said she aims to provide women with useful advice on subjects like beauty, design, health, style and parenting – with a healthy mix of empathy, inspiration and humor,” MediaWeek writes of the latest editorial endeavor.

“I just want to create a go to respite for women where they can find a shoulder to lean on. I hope what you get from it is a sense of honesty, candidness and the understanding that wacky things happen to all of us. I love to get at problems through humor. I want to carry on an intimate conversation with people. There will be no audience, no publicists. This is not about promoting your next movie. It’s about having natural conversations,” Teri herself says in a statement released to the aforementioned publication.

Aside from Teri’s pieces and editorials from various experts, the site will also include a new Web series called “In the House,” which will be shot and hosted by Hatcher herself. Guests will include both celebrity friends and regular women, all tackling everyday problems. Negotiations are now underway between Disney and the ad community with the aim of securing a few “exclusive ad partners,” Disney has confirmed for MediaWeek.
