A Tennessee bride has decided to include her one-month-old daughter in her wedding ceremony by putting the infant on the train of her wedding gown and dragging her around while she walked down the aisle, a gesture for which she received lots of negative comments on social media.

According to Daily Mail, Shona Carter-Brooks, from Jackson, Tenn., has showed up in front of her guests wearing a beautiful wedding dress with a long train which was adorned by an unusual accessory: her own baby daughter, named Aubrey.

Apparently, the dress – which is believed to be part of a Vera Wang collection and to have been bought for around $400 to $1,400 (€293 to €1,029) – has been especially customized to fit the child.

Guests at Shona's wedding to Johnathan Brooks in Ripley last month were surprised to see their newborn baby attached to the back of her dress, but most of them seemed to appreciate her unusual way to incorporate the infant in the ceremony.

However, people who have seen photos of the wedding on social media did not have the same reaction. Most commenters were outraged to see the baby fastened to her mother's apparel and demanded she be reported to child protection services.

Mrs. Carter Brooks, who also has another daughter named Jania, defended her action saying that the baby was “awake and well-secured.” She added that Aubrey was safe because she was “covered by Christ.”

“Media Media, I see how it works. Regardless the situation or purpose people gone have something negative to say!” the woman wrote on her Facebook page. “The answer is we do what we want when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine. Our one month old was awake and well secured on my train.”

People who criticized Shona on social networking sites said that what she did was child abuse, describing her gesture as “classless” and “incredibly dangerous.” Some have said the child could have suffered carpet burn from being dragged along the floor of the Elam Baptist Church in Ripley.

“I am sorry but if I would have saw that I would have gotten out of my seat and taken that baby. That is truly dumb,” one person wrote on the website Clutch.

I still hope the picture showing the baby tied to the wedding dress was photoshopped and the story isn't real.
