Telmap, a well-known provider of GPS-based software and related technologies, has recently announced that it has come up with a new business package for carriers.

The service will enable carriers to bundle Telmap’s navigation technologies into customer subscriptions.

It includes local search, mapping and turn-by-turn navigation and has been developed in collaboration with NAVTEQ, the provider of maps, traffic- and location-based services.

More importantly, the new package offers benefits to both operators and consumers, as location-based services and navigation are very useful to mobile subscribers with GPS-enabled devices.

Furthermore, this offer will give carriers the chance to increase customer loyalty, as well as provide Telmap location-based services for free to consumers.

“Telmap has been a valuable partner to mobile operators for many years and with this new package, we are confident that they will now be in a great position to better compete in, master and ultimately win a significant share in the location-based services marketplace,” said Oren Nissim, Telmap CEO.

According to Telmap, mobile operators who embrace the introduction of its location-based services across their entire customer base, will benefit from a significant discount rate from Telmap for the basic local search, mapping and navigation features.

This will make it more viable for mobile operators to include the package for free to consumers in all their GPS-enabled mobile phones.

In addition, according to the company, new revenue streams can be generated by offering consumers additional premium services such as traffic information, speed cameras, micro payments, fuel prices and city guides.

Also, thanks to the Telmap Mobile Location Companion, special offers, coupons and vouchers can be linked to outlets nearby.

“NAVTEQ’s objective is to allow more and more people to benefit from our cutting edge location aware content and services by supporting our industry customers,” added Bruno Bourguet, senior vice president, NAVTEQ Sales EMEA. “This initiative with Telmap and mobile operators will enable tens of millions of consumers to benefit from our range of products.”
