Telltale Games, best known for the relaunch of the Sam & Max series, has officially confirmed that they are working on video-game projects based on Fables and on The Walking Dead, two well-known and successful graphics novels.

Warner Bros. will be handling the publishing duties for both video games, and the developers did not say when they could be released.

The Walking Dead is probably the most interesting game of the two, mainly because of the recent success that the AMC television series based on the same content.

Steve Allison, who is a senior vice president for marketing working at Telltale, has said that if the game is successful, then it could become a franchise that is worth between 20 and 30 million dollars.

The Walking Dead focuses on the now familiar theme of a zombie apocalypse but has managed to charm readers and now television viewers with its focus on how the events of the world affect the personalities of the main characters, especially when it comes to their relation with loved ones.

It's not clear what kind of video game Telltale wants to build around The Walking Dead, but it will probably need to inject some more action-oriented mechanics in its classic adventure structure.

The episodic nature of the comic book is well suited to an episodic video game, as long as the game developer manages to deliver small episodes in a timely fashion.

Fables is another well-regarded comic book series from the DC Universe-owned Vertigo imprint, and it is focused on a wide range of characters from various folklore backgrounds and mythologies that are exiled out of the fantasy world and are forced to seek refuge in New York, blending in with humans or living completely cut off from them.

There are quite a lot of storylines in the Fables series and it's not immediately clear which one Telltale will transform into an episodic video game series.
