Wacky adventures due out in spring

Episodic content is becoming a bigger and bigger trend in the game industry, as more and more developers and publishers choose to bring their creations into bite-sized chunks that allow for a much smoother development cycle and for a better relationship with fans, who receive new adventures at a steady rate.

Among the companies that have become synonymous with episodic gaming is Telltale Games, which has been responsible for hit franchises such as Sam and Max and the most recent Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People, all based on popular characters found in either comics or animations on the Internet. But while Sam & Max appeared first on the PC, Strong Bad marked the developer's move to the Wii, appearing at the same time on both platforms.

Now it seems that Telltale will take the Xbox 360 as a brand new platform for a brand new series based on the very popular Wallace and Gromit series of cartoons. The wacky inventor and his very smart dog will be appearing on the Xbox Live Arcade this Spring, when Telltale will have finished making the first episode.

“Our episodic series focus on story, character, humor, and cinematic presentation—very much like a television or film production. This all makes for a great living room experience through the gaming console,” says Telltale CEO Dan Connors. “We're looking forward to expanding our catalog onto Xbox LIVE Arcade.”

While a lot of other companies are focusing on big games, which deliver a large amount of entertainment, in these troubled financial times, small games that are adequately priced might become very interesting for a lot of gamers out there. Until you will be able to play with the fun duo of characters, you can still enjoy the Sam & Max and Strong Bad series of titles on both the PC and the Wii.
