Swedish carriers Telenor and 3 have just announced that they have selected Nokia Siemens Networks to improve their 4G LTE networks.

Under the new agreement between the companies, Nokia Siemens is to improve high traffic areas of the network with one of its highly-acclaimed solutions, Flexi Multiradio Base Station, which should make the users experience much smoother.

In addition, Nokia Siemens should expand the capacity of the network and introduce Dual-Cell functionality, which will allow enable both carriers to offer 42Mbps HSPA+ data capability to their customers.

“With a number of smart devices flooding the market, it is imperative for leading operators like Telenor and 3 to adapt accordingly,” said Hasan Mian, head of the 3GIS customer team at Nokia Siemens Networks.

3GIS has been very consistent with its network upgrade plans and is always looking to invest where it matters the most – technology modernization. The improved, high-quality network allows 3GIS to boost the end-user experience and optimize its operating expenditure with reduced carbon footprint,” added Mian.

Although, subscribers in many regions of the country are already enjoying the advantages offered by mobile data services capable of speeds of up to 42 megabits per second (Mbps), 3GIS AB, which provides the shared 3G network for Telenor, is among the last carriers to improve the overall enhanced mobile communications experience for its subscribers.

As soon as Nokia Siemens completes the improvement process, Telenor and 3 should be able to offer twice the existing bandwidth, and also reduce the energy consumption.

Using its NetAct network management solution, Nokia Siemens will also provide implementation, planning and optimization services.
