An 18-year-old girl living in Michigan, US, is looking to go down in history as the proud bearer of the world's absolute longest tongue.

The teenager, named Adrianne Lewis, claims that her tongue measures an astounding 4 inches (10.16 centimeters) in length, maybe even a bit more.

If this is indeed the case, the teenage girl can rejoice at the thought of having defeated the current record holder, Nick Stoeberl.

This young man, also from the US, had his tongue measured by a team of Guinness World Records officials only last year.

It was then revealed that his tongue is precisely 3.97 inches (10.08 centimeters) long. Whether Adrianne's is, in fact, longer remains to be seen.

18-year-old Adrianne Lewis can lick her own eyes

The teenage girl says that her tongue is so long that she can lick her own nose, her chin and even her eyes. Why anyone would want to lick their eyeballs is still a mystery.

To get a better idea of just how much her tongue can stretch, have a go at the video below. You'll get to see her performing her most impressive stunt: the eye lick.

True, the teen has to use her hands to pull at her tongue and guide it all the way to her eye, but what matters is that she doesn't disappoint and completes the trick.

As a child, Adrianne Lewis was often bullied. She says that, whenever this happened, she would simply stick her tongue out and people would freak out and just let her be.

“In elementary school I was made fun of a lot - I would just flick my tongue in bullies' faces and freak them out,” she explained in an interview, as cited by DM.

The world's widest tongues also reside in the US

18-year-old Adrianne Lewis might have the world's longest tongue, but the absolute widest belong to a 47-year-old man named Byron Schlenker and his daughter Emily.

The pair live in Syracuse, New York, with the rest of their family, and their tongues measure 3.37 inches (8.55 centimeters) and 2.89 inches (7.34 centimeters) across, respectively.

Much like Adrianne Lewis, they are all too familiar with having people stare at them on account of this anatomical quirk. Still, they know better than be upset about it.

“Most people are just surprised I can talk normally. I get stopped by people at the grocery store or when I'm out in town to take a picture,” Byron recently told the press.
