Although catching fish with a fishing rod is the simplest way for most people, one teenager proved that his hands and a pair of Crocs were all he needed to haul in a big catch.

The video of the northern Ohio youngster catching a 3-foot (0.9-meter) carp with his bare hands on a flooded street has gone viral.

Sixteen-year-old Jake Sawyer, from North Royalton, Ohio, spotted the big fish swimming in receding floodwaters on his street, scooped it into his arms and returned it back to a nearby pond that had swelled after the neighborhood was hit by heavy rains on Monday.

So, the teen was not intentionally fishing when he reeled the 40 pounds (18 kg) fish, and his gesture was actually an act of kindness as he immediately returned the carp to his home.

“The neighbors they pointed out, they saw, like bubbles and stuff moving around over here. Then eventually we saw the fish actually surface and we saw how big it was,” Jake told local press, according to Dayton Daily News.

Curious neighbors gathered to witness the fact, while the boy's mother caught the entire scene on video.
