A Swedish teenage robber was apprehended and jailed after taking an incriminating selfie just moments before stealing from a hamburger joint armed with a knife. The 16-year-old girl and her accomplice stole $312 (€227) from a restaurant while wearing balaclavas and flashing a kitchen knife.

The two girls robbed a fast food restaurant from Halmstad, Sweden, when staff was closing down the place with just three customers remaining in the shop. One of the teens threatened a staff member with the knife just inches to his body, shouting to hand out the money, according to Daily Mail.

Not even an hour passed after the restaurant called the law enforcement, and the police tracked down the girl’s address, discovering the masks, the money and the attacker's phone. Officers caught the teenage outlaw after discovering several selfies of the unidentified girls posing with black masks and kitchen knives.

Helped by police dogs, officers tracked down the girl's flat, nearby the restaurant, and encountered three under-age girls and their grandfather, who said his granddaughter just “came back from a walk.” After a quick search, the money and the balaclavas were found, as well as the robber's iPhone.

The phone contained several photos of the girls posing with masks and knives, indoors and in the woods, as well as instructions on how to rob a store and not get caught.

It seems that the “Robbery for Dummies” manual didn't help the young thieves as much as they thought, after being apprehended in less than an hour. There was nothing there about not taking incriminating selfies, though.

The eldest girl was found guilty of armed robbery even if she insisted she wasn't even close to the place when it all happened. Because of her age, she was sent to a juvenile correction facility and will not be prosecuted as an adult, but her accomplice was still unidentified.
