Amber Portwood did not have the chance to spend Thanksgiving with her daughter Leah since she had been charged for domestic violence against her then fiancé. However, Leah will always be with Amber – as she got ink of her face on her abdomen.

The latest print issue of Star magazine talks about the Amber’s heartbreak at having been separated from her child, but also offers a closer look at the tattoo she got on November 14, as a sign of love and devotion to Leah.

For those not in the know, Amber is famous for appearing on MTV’s reality show “Teen Mom,” which is also how come authorities became alerted there might be a domestic situation between her and her fiancé.

Towards the end of November, shortly before Thanksgiving, she was officially charged for beating up her boyfriend, with Leah being named a “ward of the state” for a short while.

Right before that, says Star, Amber went and got the face of her daughter tattooed on her left side and on her abdomen. It was her first piece, took a lot to complete and was painful, but she’s very happy about it.

“Just two weeks before Amber Portwood regained custody of her precious baby girl Leak on Nov. 29, the troubled Teen Mom star begun the process of getting a huge tattoo of her beloved daughter down her left side,” Star writes.

“Amber brought in a portrait of her daughter for the artist to work with. It was her first tattoo, so she was nervous – and very emotional, considering what she’s going through with Leah,” says a source close to the reality mom.

And Star isn’t speaking only about Amber’s new tattoo in its latest issue. As its cover can confirm (attached photo), the issue also aims to shed some light into the past of her current boyfriend, which, apparently, is not as squeaky clean as one would imagine.

“There’s another cloud on the horizon: her new boyfriend has drug and battery arrests – and he’s still seeing the mother of his own love child!” reads the caption on this week’s Star.
