One teenager was miraculously saved from a tragic death as he was denied traveling with his friends the day they crashed in Newport Beach.

As I wrote yesterday, five high-school students died as they crashed into a tree on their way to the beach in Orange County, California on Memorial Day.

According to KABC, Tamer Mosallam's father told him he could not go out because he had to study for a test. It was the decision that saved the 17-year-old's life.

His friends had arranged to pick him up and had set up for him to meet a girl. Two boys and three girls ended up dead in the horrific crash, and he had previously arranged to go on a date with one of the female victims.

The other two boys in the car were also on dates with a couple of the girls.
