14 DAY TRIAL // The Jenner girls, Kylie and Kendall, and big sister Kim Kardashian were at the Teen Choice Awards 2014 last night in Los Angeles, to accept the award for Choice TV Reality Show. On the occasion, Kylie showed off her brand new hairdo.
At a first glance, there didn’t seem to be anything different about Kylie’s raven bob but, as she told E! News on the blue carpet (video embedded below), she wanted to mark her 17th birthday by doing something different to her hair.
As far as hair goes, Kylie is definitely the boldest one in the family, having dyed and cut it a lot in recent months, always to drastic and very trendy results. The same applies to her new undercut, which she seems to have gotten out of a whim, right before heading out for the awards gala.
“I shaved the back of my head for my birthday. I was just doing my hair and I was like: ‘Why not shave the back of my head?’,” she tells E! when asked if she had any special birthday plans. So, Kendall chimed in, she got this present for herself.
The new ‘do, which Kylie shows off for a mere second in the video, already has the approval of sister Kim, who recalls she got it when she was young too. Back then, it was meant as a sign of rebellion, so her dad “freaked out.”
“I did that haircut when I was 12 years old. The cool thing is to do the back of your head and then wear a ponytail,” Kim says, adding that Kylie is the very definition of “cool.” Kim also joked that she “should” try the undercut once more but chances of that happening are zero.
Over the weekend, Kim revealed that she would stick with her brunette ‘do for a while longer even though husband Kanye West is pressing her to go blonde again. Admittedly, the rapper prefers her as a blonde but she loves her dark hair too much to indulge him so, whenever she feels like doing so, she can just pop on a wig and be done with it.
If Kim is that reluctant to dyeing her hair blonde again, there’s no way she’s going to shave the side or the back of her head just because the undercut is the hottest new fad in terms of hairstyling. There’s little she loves more than her brand and such a dramatic ‘do would affect it.
Kylie, on the other hand, is much younger and still loves to experiment. Now that she’s shaved the back of her head, expect her to show it off in public properly next.
