14 DAY TRIAL // Rapper Sean Kingston has been having a very rough year but, it seems, he’s not going to let that get him down. After a life-threatening ski-jet accident back in May, Sean made his very first red carpet public appearance at last night’s Teen Choice Awards 2011.
“Teen Choice Awards!.. Here i come!… Swagged out to da max,” Kingston wrote on his Twitter earlier in the day, before he took to the red carpet to bask in the spotlight.
And that, he did once he arrived. The rapper seemed very happy to be back in the limelight, showing off his customized bling and smiling for the cameras, as Us Weekly also points out.
“Looking good, Sean! After enduring a harrowing recovery from being critically injured in a jet ski crash on May 29, Sean Kingston was all smiles at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City on Sunday,” the celebrity mag writes.
“Kingston, 21, stepped out on the Gibson Amphitheatre’s red carpet for his first public appearance since the incident, clad in a bright red vest, white T-shirt, jeans, and gold jewelry,” the publication adds.
He was all smiles for the camera and, given the stories he’s been telling about what he went through after the ski jet crash, it’s no wonder he was so happy to be back.
As we also reported at the time, Sean and a fellow passenger crashed into a small bridge during a nighttime ride on the watercraft; he was severely injured and spent days in the trauma ward in critical condition.
He also underwent several major surgeries, as he revealed in a recent interview with MTV, cited by Us Weekly.
“A lot of people don’t know it was a deeper situation. I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries,” Kingston said.
“I’m 100 percent right now. What the accident basically taught me is, in life, you have to count your blessings,” he added. He should know, since it was touch and go for him for a while.
