Anthony Cannon, a US newspaper deliveryman from Lattimore, North Carolina spotted a teddy bear in the middle of the road and decided to pick it up, but to his surprise, the toy wasn't your usual stuffed bear because it had an improvised bomb inside of it.

Anthony found it really unusual for a toy to be standing in the middle of a rural road so he decided to take it, but when he picked it up, something fell from inside of the bear.

Because of the pitch-black darkness outside, the man didn't know the fact that he was holding an improvised bomb and took the object to his cousin's home.

When he arrived at his cousin's home and examined the object closer, he figured out that the small cylindrical item was actually an improvised explosive device. The 42-year-old man rushed to take the device outside and put it on the porch while dialing 911.

The device looked like a small liquid filled bottle, covered in tape and with wires coming out of it, according to  ABC News. A bomb squad from the vicinity responded and immediately secured the perimeter. After multiple evaluations, the investigators determined that the teddy bomb could have causes some serious damage and that Cannon was a really lucky man for still being alive.

The police could not figure out who was the person guilty for making the explosive device or how he was planning to activate it. The concern at the moment is that this bomb is the second one found in same spot in the last six months. The previous bomb is also an unsolved case.

Cannon is now a local hero, putting himself in a big risk with the improvised bomb. People admired his courage and appreciated the fact that he acted with calm and no one got hurt. Even Cannon himself admits that if he wouldn't have taken the teddy bear, someone else could have found it and that probably wouldn't have turned out in the same way.
