The team at Tecmo Koei working on the upcoming Hyrule Warriors is ready to reveal that the main villain that Link will have to fight in the coming Wii U based experience is the evil sorceress Cia, who has managed to gain enough power to kidnap Princess Zelda.

The studio is not yet ready to offer any details on the actual abilities of the sorceress, which will probably be the last boss that gamers face, because they want the fans to discover them on their own as they explore the new game.

Hyrule Warriors will feature the core gameplay elements of the Dynasty Warriors series, which means that players will have to cut down entire armies’ worth of less powerful enemies before they can get to a boss character and take him out.

For the first time, the new Tecmo Koei experience will allow fans of the Zelda series to also control Princess Zelda’s Hyrulean Captain Impa.

The team states, “Impa equips a huge sword and can perform powerful combos to defeat enemies. Many other surprising playable characters make appearances in Hyrule Warriors, and each playable character will have signature weapons and action animations.”

Those who pick up Hyrule Warriors because of its link to The Legend of Zelda will be satisfied to learn that the first stage of the title is set in the classic Hyrule Field, which has been re-imagined in order to take advantage of the increased power of the Wii U.

The location is perfect for the team to introduce players to the core features of the new title and show them how they can use Link to take out hordes of enemies using his move set and items.

Enemies that have been confirmed so far for Hyrule Warriors include Bokoblins and Lizalfos and some surprising designs have also been promised.

The title is designed to enhance the profile of The Legend of Zelda as a series among a new category of gamers, while showing how the classic characters and locations can be re-created on the Wii U home console.

Tecmo Koei has said that it is working closely with the original creators of the franchise and that more cross-overs might be announced in the future.

At the moment, Hyrule Warriors is set to be launched on the Wii U from Nintendo on August 14 in Japan and Western gamers will probably get access to it after a few months.
