Fans of point & click adventure genre rejoice, as developer and publisher Wadjet Eye Games has just announced its next title, Technobabylon.

The game will be released in partnership with indie developer Technocrat and is supposed to arrive in spring 2015 only on PC. However, Mac and Linux versions of the game will be released afterwards, Wadjet Eye confirmed.

Technobabylon is a cyberpunk point & click adventure that will have the same retro-style graphics that all Wadjet Eye Games fans know and love. The game is set in the year 2087 and depicts a dystopian world where genetic engineering is the norm.

This isn’t the first title published/developed by Wadget Eye Games with a cyberpunk/dystopian setting. In December 2012, the company released Primordia which tells the story of a robot who’s trying to understand the origins of humanity.

Technobabylon will feature three playable characters, but today we only get to know more about Dr. Charlie Regis, who is a geneticist and CEL Case Specialist. The other two characters, Latha Sesame and Dr. Max Lao will probably be detailed in the coming weeks/months.

An exact release date has yet to be confirmed

For those who want to know a little bit of history on how Technobabylon came to be, here are some interesting details offered by Wadjet Eye Games.

The game started out as a series of 8 planned freeware episodes by indie developer James Dearden. 3 of these 8 episodes have already been released and are available for free.

In order for the game to be released commercially, Wadjet Eye revamped Technobabylon's story and gameplay with player feedback from the freeware episodes integrated for the most part. According to devs, the game will also have new pixel art by Ben Chandler and professional voice acting.

On a side note, I think it’s funny that the cyberpunk Technobabylon adventure game is a 360 degree turn for Wadjet Eye, as the company recently released another point & click adventure, Golden Wake, which is set in the ‘20s.
