TechFaith is probably the less known company of the two, and it focuses on researching and developing cell phone solutions mostly for middle to high-end handsets, and custom made ones as well. Moreover, it is aiming for global expansion and collaborating with the most important carriers on a worldwide scale.

QIGI is probably a bit more well known, as it’s a company based on developing and selling Windows based smartphones, and other Windows Mobile advanced technologies, which it usually develops.

The two companies have partnered to create the first Android powered phone in China, and they have achieved just that. The i6-Goal phone was launched today, of course, in China and it features the 624 MHz CPU, a touchscreeen, business card scanning application and GPS functionality. It's designed as a slim, fairly appealing looking mobile providing web applications such as Gmail, YouTube and GTalk, everything running, as already noted, on the much popular Android OS.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TechFaith, Defu Dong, said the following on the phone’s release, filling in the rest of the details: "We are proud to launch the first Android-powered mobile phone in China. The QIGI i6-Goal has amazing potential in China because it is not only for making phone calls; it also provides mobile Web access to China's growing customer base. In addition, the launch of i6-Goal is a great example of the success of our strategic alliance with QIGI and its ability to quickly launch products onto the market."

"We are pleased to be the first company to launch an Android-powered phone in China. We believe this state-of-the-art product will be very attractive to China's market due to its great features including Web access, email and GPS functions. We signed sales agreements with a few well-known mobile phone distributors in China and are looking forward to shipping the i6-Goal very soon." added Enhai Xu, QIGI's president.

Such a development is probably very well seen in China and it will now probably open up the gates for other Windows Mobile phones to cross China's borders as well. In any case, the positive side of this new mobile development will probably “shine brighter” than those aspects about it that might be seen in a different light.
