“The Wolverine,” the sequel to the critically panned 2009 “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” has been a long time in the making. The wait is nearly over now: check out the new teaser poster above.

Obtained by Slash Film, the new teaser poster is perhaps even better than the one that leaked some time ago, for the obvious reason that it has Wolverine front and center.

I also love how minimalistic it is, and the fact that it’s apparently hand-drawn / painted (obviously, it’s not). Sometimes, indeed, less is more.

Where “The Wolverine” will take the popular X-Man is yet uncertain, but the aforementioned trade website says it’s set after the other X-Men films.

“The reason for that was [director] Mangold and Jackman wanted to create a movie that was in its own world and didn’t have to answer to other movies. That means that all the other X-Men are gone and Jackman said the character is at the lowest point we’ve ever seen him,” Slash Film writes.

“The Wolverine” will be out on July 26, 2013.
