Electronic Arts has announced that it will offer those who have bought Need for Speed: Shift a free-to-download DLC pack which will provide even more content to play around with in the racing game. The new piece of content is called The Team Racing Pack and is set to introduce a new mode of play for those interested in multiplayer while also adding 5 new cars for players to use however they like. Xbox 360 players from around the world will be getting all of this on December 1, while the PlayStation 3 gamers will have to wait until December 3, if they live in Europe, and until December 10, in the United States.

The Team Racing mode splits the participants into two teams, which can consist of as many as six players each. The teams will battle against each other on a variety of tracks and simply being the best is not enough, as cooperation between members of the same team is essential to success.

The five new cars offered in the Team Racing pack are: the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427, the 1967 Shelby GT-500, the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, the 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T and the 1998 Toyota Supra Mark IV. Electronic Arts is promising that, if this first DLC pack will be successful, more cars and more modes will be offered for the enjoyment of fans.

Need for Speed: Shift has been released in September and is a return to the roots of sorts for the long running series. The cockpit view is favored and there are more complex crash and damage systems incorporated. Shift has been widely considered the best Need for Speed videogame in years and Electronic Arts is saying that this new approach will be enhanced next year, when Burnout developer Criterion takes the reins of the franchise.
