Team Fortress 2 is one of the biggest online games out there, having gained a huge number of fans thanks to its distinct gameplay and wide variety of character classes that are available for players around the world.

But another distinct feature that the Valve-developed game has is the fact that it is running on the Source engine, which is very easy to modify, as is creating new content for it. As such, by using the Source SDK, modders have put together a wide variety of maps and new gameplay modes, some of which became so popular that the development team included them in the game in new updates.

Now, things will get even easier for players who want to create new maps or to develop their skills, as a new update to the Source SDK will include the .vmf source files for a lot of the official Team Fortress 2 maps. People can start experimenting with them and then begin to create their own customized experience from scratch.

“This is something we've wanted to do for a while, especially as we've been growing the range of game modes in TF,” said Valve in a post on the TF2 blog. “Here's the list of maps that are included in the update: Lumberyard, Ravine, Badlands, Dustbowl, Granary, Gravelpit, 2Fort, Badwater, Goldrush, and Hydro. Our plan is to get more of our TF content source out in the SDK, so look for more maps & model sources in the future.”

Overall, this is something that a lot of Team Fortress 2 players will be very excited about. There is already a wide variety of maps out there, some of them official but many created by the community, for the community, and this new update will help those who want to create even more interesting and customized experiences.
