14 DAY TRIAL // One of the reasons Taylor Swift is so popular is a certain lovable quality she has about her, and which seems to be generated by the close relationship she has with her fans. For them, the country / pop darling had just released a video, for her single “Fearless,” the one she once said she wrote when thinking about the best date she did not have just yet.
As MTV News puts it, the “Fearless” video is like an open love letter to all Taylor Swift fans. Though the song is about the fearlessness of (a hypothetical) love, the video, comprised of segments from Taylor’s Fearless tour, makes it so that the lyrics, the declaration of love, goes to the singer’s fans and not to some guy she’s yet to meet. In doing so, Taylor makes of “Fearless” the sweetest video to be released in a while, a tribute to the millions of fans out there without whom none of this would be possible.
“Taylor Swift loves her fans, and she always makes sure to give props to those who have helped make her the award-winning superstar she is today. So it seems fitting that when she put together the video for her song ‘Fearless,’ she made sure to give her fans an inside view of what it’s like to go on tour with the pop star. ‘You guys, this tour has been the best experience of my entire life,’ Swift tells her band before they step onstage,” MTV writes of the “Fearless” video.
“The video features behind-the-scenes footage of Swift and her band as they take her sold-out Fearless tour across the country. The video also features footage from the tour itself with fans excitedly showing off signs to the pop star. Although the song is a love letter to the perfect first date, the video is really Swift’s love letter to her fans. It ends with the singer waving goodbye to them as she makes her way off the stage,” the same media outlet further informs.
When the “Fearless” album arrived in 2008, Taylor said that she did not think of it as a declaration that she or her fans have no fear but rather a shove in the right direction: we all have fears, she said, but it’s important we jump either way.
