14 DAY TRIAL // For many weeks now, there’s been a lot of talk about how Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift, once the best friends in the world (or at least in showbiz) had drifted apart after Taylor told Selena to cut all ties with Justin Bieber or risk losing her as a BBF. It turns out, they’re as close as ever.
Both young ladies attended this Monday’s MET Gala 2014 in New York City and, besides looking absolutely splendid in their designer gowns (more on that in a minute, with pics in the gallery below), they also took the time to set the record straight on the feuding rumors.
They did that by shooting a video together after the red carpet ceremony, which Selena set to beautiful music and then uploaded it to her Instagram. As the music plays “let us leave the confusion and all this illusion behind,” the two are seen hugging and holding hands, horsing around and posing for pictures.
In other words, they’re acting like two good friends would on a night out on the town. Only, you know, in designer gowns that cost more than we’d ever consider paying for a piece of cloth.
Speaking of designer gowns, Taylor’s gorgeous pink creation was Oscar de la Renta and was perfect for the theme of the night, old-school glamor. She paired it with bold red lips and a retro hairstyle that she usually favors in her everyday life as well, but also with plenty of diamonds.
Considering she’s tall and lean, you would think she would have been swamped by such an impressive gown but she worked it wonderfully, including the long trail.
Meanwhile, Selena did not take into account the theme of the Ball but still managed to look breathtaking. She wore a plum-colored Diane Von Furstenberg gown that clung to her trim figure without coming across as vulgar, and set it off with edgy geometric earrings and bold lips.
“And during.. sometimes you wanna just be you with someone who knows all your secrets,” Gomez wrote in the caption to the Instagram video, which you will also find embedded below.
This should clear the air on at least one topic: regardless of whether Selena is still dating Justin Bieber or not, she and Taylor are as close as ever. From her video description, we could easily conclude that they were never less than that, despite reports to the contrary. They probably just chose to not parade their friendship for the paparazzi anymore.
