Singer leaves Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon in tears after her performance

Just one day after her lively, infectiously fun performance at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012, Taylor Swift debuted a new song at the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon event. Check it out in the video above.

Called “Ronan,” the song is about a little boy of 4 who lost the battle with cancer. Taylor became inspired and wrote the lyrics after she read his mother’s blog.

Consequently, “Ronan” is a mother’s dedication to her lost son.

While it was plain to see that Taylor was struggling to fight back tears during the actual performance, she saw no reason to do so once it was over: the Daily Mail has photos of Taylor leaving the building in tears, escorted by her mother.
