14 DAY TRIAL // The most beautiful fashion show took place in London last night and will air on TV later this month: the annual Victoria’s Secret show, in which a new collection of lingerie items and fancy accessories were shown to the public on the bodies of the most gorgeous models on earth, the VS Angels.
Jessica Hart wasn’t among them and we have singer Taylor Swift to “thank” for that, according to insiders spilling the beans to the NY Daily News.
Apparently, Taylor can really hold a grudge, even if it’s for something that many of us wouldn’t pay attention to, like some random comment about how she didn’t seem to “fit in” at the previous VS show.
What started the feud?
Last year, Taylor Swift was one of the performers asked to do a live gig during the show. Despite some talk about how she’d not do a good job for a variety of reasons, her squeaky clean image being one of them, she did just fine.
Model Jessica Hart didn’t really agree with that; that is to say, she agreed that Taylor’s performance had been decent, but she added that she personally got the feeling that Taylor didn’t belong there, didn’t “fit in.”
The obvious implication was that she wasn’t a grownup woman yet, or that she lacked whatever the Angels had (the body, the face, the confidence, whatever it was), or that she was out of her league. Hart might not have said all these things directly, but she implied as much when she observed that Taylor didn’t “fit in.”
Little did she probably think that, one day, her words would come back to haunt her – or bite her in that perfect model derriere.
Taylor basically got Jessica fired
As per the aforementioned report, when Victoria’s Secret approached Taylor with the suggestion to come back and perform at the show for another year, she had but one – and one only – condition: she didn’t want Hart to walk the runway.
Because having Taylor as a performer brings even more exposure to an already highly mediated event and because VS had set their mind on having her, they gave in, so Hart got the boot for this one.
If there’s any truth to the report, one can easily imagine that Hart must be feeling quite furious right now, especially since she apologized for last year’s comment by saying that it came across much harsher than she meant it.
Taylor’s reputation precedes her
Even if none of the above is true, it serves as confirmation that Taylor Swift’s reputation still precedes her. No matter what she does, she simply can’t shake off reports that she’s a mean, resentful young woman who will spare no expense in getting even for whatever minor wrong done onto her.
If she’s not a serial dater who “forces” every man to dump her after 3 months because she’s clingy and desperate, she’s harboring grudges against them and women who have crossed her, plotting her revenge, waiting for the right moment to strike back.
In her “feud” with Hart, last night’s Victoria’s Secret show was the perfect moment.
