She’s naturally lean, doesn’t need the exercise, says unconfirmed report

Despite a 2012 statement about how much she hated going to the gym, Taylor Swift has been photographed a lot in recent months either going in or leaving one such establishment. This begs the question: if she said that she would rather she did anything else than work out, how come she’s going to the gym so often?

The answer, according to the latest print issue of Star magazine (story via Jezebel) is simple: Taylor is a poser. She’s not going to the gym like normal people do, in order to break a sweat and, in the process stay in shape and feel better, but because she’s trying to keep up appearances.

Taylor believes that being seen at the gym often makes her “cool.” So she makes sure she’s seen whenever she goes there, perhaps even by alerting the paparazzi herself on her whereabouts.

“She'll get a smoothie, stretch a little, then primp in the locker room for 45 minutes because photographers are outside waiting to take her picture. Taylor thinks that it makes her look cool to be a chick who works out — but she's naturally thin, so she never does,” a fellow gym-goer is cited as telling the publication.

Other celebrities who are rumored to be pulling a similar stunt whenever they’re seen going to the gym are the Kardashians: they too look impeccable when they leave, with a face full of makeup and the same hairstyle they had when they walked in, which means they neither sweated nor took a shower.

That Taylor hates working out at the gym is no secret, but whether she’d really be capable of wasting so much time on appearing “cool” when she’s not is an entirely different thing. Pulling this kind of stunt takes a lot of time and effort, and it’s hard to believe that she’s that desperate for attention and to have people buy into the image she’s selling as to actually do it.

With the Kardashians, their entire brand revolves around their image, so it’s easy to understand why they’d do it. However, Taylor Swift’s situation is different.

“I don’t ever want to be that person whose self-image overtakes who they are. I am not a fan of working out that much. There’s no regimen. There’s no personal trainer,” she said in that 2012 interview mentioned above.

“I love to go hiking because it’s an experience. If I need to gain stamina for a tour, I will run every single night on the treadmill, but I don’t necessarily like being at the gym,” she added.
