As we go further into the new year, more and more celebrities are opting for a change in hairstyle. We've already seen a couple of pretty dramatic makeovers, some more successful than others, but today it's the turn of singer Taylor Swift to dazzle us.

Taylor made a name for herself with not only her music but also with her long ashen blond hair, too. As she performed in London yesterday as part of the European leg of her “Red” tour, Taylor appeared on stage with a chic new bob hairdo.

The 24-year-old Grammy nominee posted a photo with her new look on Instagram, in which she was accompanied by Ellie Goulding, who made a surprise cameo appearance during her concert, accompanying Taylor in a duet version of “Burn.”

The photo on Instagram was wittily captioned “London, I could never thank you enough. See you next time! PS: short hair, don't care. (!!!)”

The reason for this visible change is not known, but it might have something to do with the fact that Taylor did catch some flack from the media for her performance at the 2014 Grammys, when she whipped her hair back and forth energetically, leaving some to wonder if she was suffering from violent convulsions.

Other voices are saying that Taylor's new look was inspired by recently departed Hollywood legend Shirley Temple. The former child star was famous throughout the '30s for her curly hairdo, which induced nation-wide hysteria among mothers and their young children who tried to mimic it.

The connection between the two is also made more evident by Taylor's tweet, “Sitting backstage at the O2 in London, thinking about what an impressive and extraordinary life Shirley Temple led. Thanks for the memories.”

If you squint your eyes and cock your head to one side, you can almost see a resemblance, but Taylor's locks are nowhere near as curly as Temple's bouncy ringlets.
