Artists have learned to stay away from potentially compromising situations and the first rule in the musicians’ handbook is never to perform in a county that's politically unstable. Taylor Swift has been paying attention to the news, and, as such, she's announced that she won't be performing her scheduled concert in Thailand.

Fox News reports that the “Red” singer has just canceled a sold-out concert she was supposed to play in Thailand, following the military coup that took place last week. The official promoter for the concert has said in a statement that the event would be canceled “due to recent events in Thailand.”

It did not go into specifics, nor did it elaborate on the matter, but it did concede that the current outcome was “a difficult decision for all parties” involved.

The concert was scheduled to take place in Bangkok on June 9 after dark, but that would have been impossible under the current circumstances. Ever since control switched hands in Thailand, martial law has been instated and so a curfew is now imposed, even though local reports coming in state that it isn't so actively enforced.

Taylor Swift, who is enjoying some time off from touring, took to Twitter to console her Thai fans: “I'm sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I'm so sad about the concert being canceled.”

Sadly for local music lovers, Swift isn't the only artist to have canceled her performance in the country after the political unrest took over. Several other international acts have postponed or canceled altogether their appearances.
