Fans have been struggling for months to get British actor – and star of “New Moon” as well – Robert Pattinson as host for Saturday Night Live. Online petitions have been drawn up, signed, and forwarded to the powers-that-be, but until now, nothing has come of them. On the other hand, with the least effort, Taylor Lautner has been booked to host SNL, Us Magazine informs.

The young actor, who plays wolf and ever-reliable friend Jacob Black in the “Twilight” films, has been booked to make his comedic debut on the show that will air on December 12, which means two weeks from now. Other stars that will grace SNL as hosts this month include pop star Rihanna and actress Blake Lively – but, unfortunately, no Robert Pattinson, much to the disappointment of his fans.

“New Moon fever hits SNL! Fresh off New Moon’s mega-blockbuster opening weekend, Taylor Lautner – sorry, Team Edward! – will show his comic chops on NBC’s Saturday Night Live on Dec. 12. Backstage, Lautner can mingle with musical guests Bon Jovi, returning to perform for the fifth time. But it’s 17 year-old Lautner’s very first time hosting SNL in a holiday month with two other big debuts on the sketch show,” Us Magazine writes.

The pressure for Lautner must be great right about now, fans say, although he’s repeatedly shown that, if anything, there is no better person at handling the press than him on the entire “Twilight” cast. Still, to make matters somewhat easier on him, MTV came up with a few ideas for sketches that would probably do extremely well with audiences, while also proving that Lautner has the comedic skills it takes to be asked a second time on SNL. One of these ideas includes the all too obvious “Twilight” parody.

“We know it’s going to happen, the only question is how will it? Though several humorous scenarios ran through our minds (Taylor as vampire!), the one that tickled our funny bones the most was seeing Taylor cast as Bella Swan (just like his maybe girlfriend Taylor Swift was when she hosted!). I mean, come on, he already has the wig for it! With Andy Samberg as Edward Cullen, any moment from either the first or second film would be hilarious, but we’re hoping for the Volterra scene from ‘New Moon.’ Taylor splashing through a fountain and running into the arms of Andy would be epic,” MTV writes.
