Fresh off “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Taylor Lautner is looking forward to new projects that will further strengthen his status as an action movie star, which is precisely what he wants, if one is to believe ongoing reports. Word in the industry was saying the other day that the young actor had been fervently courted for a part in the upcoming “X-Men: First Class” film but, as E! Online can confirm, this is not an accurate report.

These past couple of days, hype has been building up online that Lautner had been approached by Fox with an offer for a part on the upcoming “X-Men” flick and that he had already accepted, thus taking yet another step to cement his career as an action movie star. Though Fox would have certainly been very smart to go to Lautner with an offer, his fans should know that this never happened. Of course, that’s not to say that his career is stalling or anything, since he’s reportedly about to take up wonderboy Max Steel next.

“Is Taylor Lautner, the highest paid teen star on the H’wood block right now, ready to suit up for the new X-Men flick? Reports claim Lautner, best known for his role as the cuddliest werewolf ever in Eclipse, is being sought out to join James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in X-Men: First Class, which is set to start shooting this summer. Hate to break the news to you Team Jacob fans, but... It’s not happening,” E! writes after verifying ongoing reports with reliable inside sources whose identity is, as expected, not revealed. The worst part is, E! goes on to argue, he would have been the perfect choice for the film.

“Sources close to Taylor tell us it’s ‘not true’ that the teen dream is being pursued by Fox to join the über-successful franchise. And we say, shame on it! This kind of film is a perfect fit for Lautner and his career. After seeing the painful movie that was Valentine’s Day (hardly just T.L.’s fault), we think action guy is the ideal role for the mini heartthrob. The Twilight hunk is already in tip-top shape, we would rather see him kick some [expletive] over solely chasing girls. Sorry, but we’re crossing our fingers romantic comedies will not be Taylor’s forte (here’s hoping Stretch Armstrong makes us forget the Taylor and Taylor Swift awkwardness),” the same report says.

As also noted above, Lautner is now indeed rated as the biggest teen earner in Hollywood, with the films in the “Twilight” series serving as the ideal launching pad for his career. Speaking of which, another rumor that is now making the rounds is that all three “Twilight” leads, meaning Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, stand to make up to $41 million each for the final two films in the franchise.
