The second season of X Factor, the singing competition Simon Cowell imported from the UK, has wrapped. The season finale saw Tate Stevens of Team L.A. Reid take home the much coveted award and the record contract.

The latter is worth $5 million (€3.78 million) and aims to help the artist who wins it to break into the industry.

Tate will be that artist, as the video below can confirm.

In the end, the choice was between Tate and Carly Rose Sonenclar (Team Britney), who, at 13, was the youngest contestant on the show.

“First and foremost I've got to thank the man upstairs for taking care of me. My family, all the country music fans, God bless you and thank you so very much for all the votes. This is the best day of my life,” a visibly emotional Stevens said after he heard his name called out.

Mentor L.A. Reid was almost as emotional but, at the same time, also incredibly proud.

“You deserve this, I am proud to work with you and I think you represent the X Factor really, really well. On behalf of myself, Simon and all the other judges, congratulations,” the music mogul said.
