More details have emerged about a 56-year-old woman that died when a driver going south on a northbound lane caused a chain collision on the Tappan bridge yesterday.

Hannah Ayeh-Brachie lived in Hillcrest and she owned a beauty salon and an African food store in the Bronx. She provided for many members of her family.

According to Lohud, she was originally from Ghana and she supported her relatives in coming to the States.

“She brought me here from Ghana. She knows I’m sick. She knows I have MS. She’s the one who does everything for us. I don’t know how I’m going to pay my bills,” her niece Esther Aboajye describes.

Aboajye drove by the crash site the night her aunt died and saw her covered up body laid out on the pavement. At the time, the identity of the victim was not known.

An interview with Aboajye has been attached underneath this news blog.
