Although it has just announced the development of two new superzoom lenses for both APS-C and full-frame formats, Tamron is always looking to come with new optical solutions for its customers.

According to a new patent discovered by Japanese website Egami, Tamron is also planning to develop a new wide-angle macro lens. The patent reveals two macro lens models, a 28mm f/2.5 and a 30mm f/2.8, both designed for APS-C format digital SLRs.

These lenses have a 35mm equivalent focal range of 42mm and 45mm, respectively, and feature a similar optical construction with 10 elements in 8 groups. For the moment, it's not clear whether any of these lenses will reach mass production.

If we take a look at Tamron's current lineup, we can see that it includes four Macro lenses, as follows: SP 60mm f/2.0 Di II 1:1, SP 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD 1:1, SP 90mm f/2.8 Di 1:1, and SP 180mm f/3.5 Di 1:1.
