Today was the day Nippon optics manufacturer Tamron chose to reveal its upcoming lenses that will be presented at next week's CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show in Yokohama, Japan.

The company announced the development of the 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO all-in-one superzoom lens that has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 25-465mm, unusually wide for a lens of this type.

The optic also integrates Tamron's Piezo Drive ultrasonic AF motor as well as optical image stabilization (for Nikon and Canon mounts only), all wrapped in a moisture-resistant body.

The lens construction features 16 elements in 12 groups, including two LD elements, one Hybrid Aspherical element, one XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass element, three Molded-Glass Aspherical elements, and one UXR (Ultra-Extra Regractive Index) glass to efficiently compensate chromatic aberrations, flare, and ghosting.

The upcoming Tamron 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.39m (1.27ft) and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9, giving you extensive macro photography options. No information was disclosed about the lens' possible price and availability.
