At Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards 2011, Katy Perry and Russell Brand seemed less than the loved-up couple they were some months ago, before her tour. A new report comes to deny talk of marriage trouble for the two, saying they’re just as in love as ever.

In all fairness, even before Katy and Russell were married, there was a lot of speculation about how much their marriage would last, given they’d only been dating for months and he was a known womanizer.

In fact, less than three months after they tied the knot, sources were saying they were already in marriage counseling because they were no longer seeing eye to eye.

The rumor mill picked up speed again at the awards show over the weekend, with many reading in Katy and Russell’s body language the first signs of an imminent split.

Far from it, Us Weekly writes. Insiders at the show vouch for the celebrity magazine that the two were inseparable the entire night and that there wasn’t even the slightest trace of trouble in their relationship.

“Russell and Katy were by each other’s side all night,” says one spy. “[They] had their arms linked and their hands intertwined. They seemed really happy and were just smiling and beaming at each other.”

In other words, Us writes, the two turned the awards show into a regular night out on the town, a romantic date.

“They were whispering in each other’s ears and giggling – it looked like they had private jokes to share,” the same insider reveals.

However, it became clear that they weren’t just putting up an act when Katy won Video of the Year for “Firework” and she included Russell into her acceptance speech.

“Brand looked ‘genuinely touched, almost tearful’ when his bride won her first award, and Perry was equally proud of the heartfelt speech her husband gave during the Amy Winehouse tribute,” Us writes.
