“Taken 2” did not fare as well as its predecessor with the critics but it still made a killing at the box office. As such, a sequel is now in the works but whether it would still feature Liam Neeson is yet uncertain.

Starring Neeson as retired CIA agent Bryan Mills, he with a “special set of skills” fighting his way to be reunited with his taken daughter (and wife, in the sequel), “Taken” has put Neeson on the map of hot action movie stars.

It’s a successful recipe and it will most likely spawn another installment, screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen says, as cited by ComicBookResources.

“We didn’t start talking about [it] until we saw the numbers. But then we said, ‘Oh, okay. I think we should do a third one.’ And Fox wants us to do a third one,” Kame says, practically confirming that a threequel has been greenlit.

Whether Neeson will return is uncertain at this point but Kamen underlines that some changes are to be expected.

We’ve taken everyone we can take. It’s going to go in another direction,” he says.
