For the first time in the history of handheld consoles, you will be able to become a rock god thanks to the upcoming release of Guitar Hero: On Tour for Nintendo's DS. Even though a clear release date is not known, Activision said that the game will be published sometime during this summer and, in order to prove to us that the work's almost done, they have released a few screenshots. We have them here for you to enjoy - just click on the thumbnails below to see them.

The game looks great for a DS title and this is a further proof that Red Octane and Vicarious Studios really want to create a quality one, just like the previous titles. And if these images are not enough for you, the details should: Guitar Hero: On Tour will deliver an unique GH experience by challenging handheld gamers to rock out and prove their skills on the most diverse set list of master tracks ever offered in a Guitar Hero game, including classic rock, alternative and pop favorites such as Nirvana, OK Go and No Doubt.

Still, the most important new thing to be brought to us by the DS version is the Guitar Grip peripheral - it fits perfectly in the DS' GBA slot and lets the player hit the appropriate fret buttons as he picks the notes with a stylus on the screen.

With such an arsenal of innovation, great tracks to rock on and beautiful graphics for a Nintendo DS game, Guitar Hero: On Tour promises to bring us the same great experience as the other console versions, but with a great advantage over them: now we'll be able to show off our rock star skills anywhere, anytime, as long as we have the console and the game. And, probably, an audience to applaud.
