Yesterday, thousands of people visited Taiwan's Taipei Zoo, and not because Mr. Willy Wonka was there handing out free chocolates, but because they wanted to be among the first to catch a glimpse of the state's first panda cub.

The panda cub was born about six months ago to mom Yuan Yuan, Shanghai Daily says. Both its parents were offered as a gift to Taiwan by the Chinese mainland back in 2008.

According to Daily Mail, the baby panda is a female. Is has been named Yuan Zai. It currently spends most of its time sleeping. In fact, keepers say that it naps for up to 20 hours each day.

During whatever hours remain of the day, the baby panda keeps itself busy looking absolutely adorable.

Keepers at Taipei Zoo say that, now that Yuan Zai has finally made its public debut, the facility will probably receive some 19,000 visitors on a daily basis.
