Most users who own a tablet will largely use the device for browsing the web. So what do you do when you stumble upon something you really like? You share it with your friends and loved ones, of course.

A new study by MAZ, a company that powers over 600 apps in the Apple App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore, has conducted a study that shows us how tablet owners share content. It’s important to note that MAZ apps have a special feature that lets users “lasso out” and share anything they see and like on the screen.

Interestingly enough, 72% of all sharing covered in the study was done by content email and not as one would expect it to be done, through popular social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Nevertheless, social media is far from dead. The research discovered that those using this means to share, tend to favor certain social networks, depending on the category of the app they use.

For example, those into Lifestyle apps are 7 times more likely to share their preferences via Pinterest than via Twitter. Facebook still rules supreme in the field of entertainment, sports and travel apps, while business app users will prefer the more “serious” Twitter above other social networks.

The study used data taken from 124 iOS apps, taking into consideration 847,311 user sessions and 37,983 user clippings.
