The accessory was part of a Kickstarter fund-raising campaign that dates back to 2012

Are people slowly turning into couch potatoes? Inventor Scott Belvins certainly wouldn’t mind if that turned out to be the case.

He came up with a product that allows tableters to lie flat in bed (or on a couch for that matter) and use their slate without straining their muscles too much.

His start-up, Nbryte, has designed a tablet accessory called Tablift that helps users prop their tablet in bed, which he showcased at CES 2014 in Las Vegas last week.

The idea of inventing the stand came to Carson after he got annoyed with watching TV shows and movies in bed and having to hold the tablet up or propping it against some other object.

Carson also seems to have magically stumbled upon some information that reveals that over half of all tablet use occurs in bed or in front of the TV. So he saw an opportunity to aid the people suffering from the same discomfort as he was.

Tablift was especially created to prop a tablet on an uneven/cushioned surface and can sit in three positions: chair, lying in bed or lying flat. I’m having a little deja-vu here that makes me think of Lenovo’s multi-mode Yoga tablet which can stand-itself up (why not get that instead?).

Anyway, the tablet prop will ship starting Q2 2014 for a $59.95 / €44 a pop if you feel like paying extra for an accessory like this.
