The Chinese company is bringing the netbook in the current era

Yesterday I reminded you of netbooks, which are supposed to be smaller notebooks optimized for low weigh and low cost. These aren't flashy machines, but products who bundle enough to answer the average consumer’s needs.

Anyway, netbooks have recently become quite scarce, but Chinese manufacturer TYD has outed a new device that belongs to the group (via MobileGeeks). The laptop comes with a 10.1-inch display and packs a Bay Trail-M processor under the bonnet, combined with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (which doesn't sound like a lot when you think of your average notebook).

It even has a touchscreen display with a decent enough resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The machine is set to ship out for $200 / €146.

If you think the price tag is a bit of a stretch, it’s actually not, since Microsoft has lowered the Windows licenses fees to just $25 / €18.

But wait, there’s more, the machine is actually a 2-in-1, so users will be capable of turning the screen around and use it in Presentation mode. On top of that, the display can be folded on top of the keyboard giving you a chunkier tablet to work with.
