Facebook Connect continues to gain traction as the universal login standard with the addition of online video and TV-centric community site TV.com. The integration with Facebook Connect will allow users to easily post on their Facebook Wall and News Feeds any comment they leave on the site, regarding a TV show or a news story, or in the forums.

When Facebook Connect was first announced, Hulu, the online video site backed by three of the four major networks, was hailed as an important partner in the program. A year later, Facebook integration is still missing on the video site and rival TV.com has apparently beaten it to the punch.

While TV.com already boasts over 20 million registered users, that's still ten times less compared to Facebook, which is the largest social network and one of the top ten web sites in the world. Allowing users to log in with their Facebook credentials could potentially bring a bigger number of users to the site as Facebook is becoming a great source for traffic, starting to rival even Google when it comes to some sites. The feature enables users to add reviews, ratings or comments on the clips without having to set up a TV.com account.

CBS-owned TV.com was originally designed as a community centered on TV shows. However, after the media giant acquired Cnet, which owned TV.com, the site went through a redesign, adding full TV show episodes or clips to the mix. The company is the only major TV network missing from Hulu, with Fox, NBC and ABC all providing content, and is using TV.com to release its own content online. And while Hulu may be getting a lot more attention and hype in terms of visitors the two sites are at around the same levels.
