Bigpoint, the company that is working on using a Battlestar Galactic license to create a browser based MMO experience, has announced that the most important characters from the Syfy made modern series will be lending their images and their voices to the gaming project.

Battlestar Galactica Online will feature the image and the voice of: William “Admiral” Adama as portrayed by Edward James Olmos; Kara “Starbuck” Thrace played by Katee Sackhoff; Lee “Apollo” Adama portrayed by Jamie Bamber; Galen “Chief” Tyrol portrayed by Aaron Douglas.

There are also Cylon characters featured, including: Number Six as portrayed by Tricia Helfer; Number Eight as portrayed by Grace Park; Number One aka John Cavil as played by Dean Stockwell and Number Two aka Leoben Conoy portrayed by Callum Keith Rennie.

Heiko Hubertz, who is the Chief Executive Officer and also the founder of Bigpoint, stated, “These characters brought to life the story and captured the imaginations of a whole new generation of Battlestar Galactica fans and we felt strongly that they needed to appear in the game.”

He adds, “Our goal is to create a deep connection to the mythology of Syfy series and by working with the producers, writers and actors, Bigpoint hopes to meet the expectations of the fans and allow them to write their own adventures through gameplay.”

The Battlestar Galactica Online narrative is built upon the second season of the television series and will aim to portray the struggle for survival that is going on between the human fleet survivors and the Cylons.

The main characters from the television show will be used to create a link to the player and will deliver the main story points but the players will be the ones who directly shape the way the game evolves.

Battlestar Galactica Online will be initially only available on the Syfy official site and will be entirely playable in a browser.
