Ever thought of putting Front Row on your TV set? You know you can, right? All you need is bpt's TV Row installed on your Mac. The Leopard-only app lets you have Front Row on your TV without the fuss of having to re-arrange the displays in preferences. Updated to version 1.3 today, the free program is even more reliable now.

"Have you ever dreamed about having Front Row on your TV without the hassle of re-arranging the displays in preferences? Well your dream is about to become reality," developer bpt notes. The program basically lets you use Front Row on your TV or second display, with one click of the mouse. But, just before you go all crazy with joy and begin installing this useful app, you need to know a few things.

TV Row will change your display settings, moving the visual output (the actual image displayed on your Mac's screen) to your TV, or to the additional monitor you've chosen for the task. Once you tell TV Row to move Front Row to your TV / second monitor, yet no such device is connected to your Mac, your screen will go blank and you'll no longer be able to see what you are doing. Bottom line is you should not use TV Row if you don't have a second display (TV) connected to your Mac! In fact, it's better if you just skip this app right now if you don't have a second display or TV set around.

You do, huh? OK then, let's talk some more TV Row.

TV Row version 1.3 adds:

- No more execution dialog when you start TV Row. - If you select the wrong path where Front Row should be, then TV Row will ask you again. - If you started Front Row before, it will quit the process before starting TV Row.

The developer also notes that while TV Row lets you automatically play Front Row on your second monitor or TV, you will be able to set your first display as primary display again with a single mouse click, as soon as you close Front Row.

TV Row is based on cscreen, which is not being developed anymore. It is hard to find on the web, this being the reason why it's included in the download package, the developer says.

TV Row requirements call for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, since Front Row only comes with Leopard (without hacks, of course) and a second display or TV connected to your Mac.

Again, don't install this app just knowing that you have a TV set laying around the house. You need it close to your Mac and connected to it!
