It's already quite clear that miniaturization and portability have become two of the most important trends in technology, but from time to time we encounter some devices that actually amaze us, because they take these concepts to the next level. And one such device is the "MobiTV Global" from V-Gear, an external TV Tuner just a bit larger than a pack of gum, which connects to your computer's USB port.

"MobiTV Global? is an amazing sample of miniaturization. Thus, despite its small dimensions and very low weight (83?27?14mm, 25 grams), it is capable of receiving ground wave analog television broadcasting (both NTSC and PAL/SECAM systems) within the VHF 1 - 12, UHF 13 - 62, CATV C13 ? C63 channels, and also lets the user record the shows in MPEG2 format. Moreover, it is also fitted with a remote control, and the software allows for video clips to be recorded and processed.

The device produced by V-Gear doesn't require an extremely powerful system in order to run (the manufacturers recommend a Pentium 4 at 2.4 Ghz and a minimum of 512 MB DDRAM, and also 1 GB of free space on the hard-disk in order to install the software which accompanies the device), but the presence of a USB2.0 port is mandatory.

Here are some of the other important technical specifications of the "MobiTV Global? from V-Gear:

- Tuning range: 48.25 - 863.25 Mhz; - Video recording system: MPEG2; - Resolution: NTSC: 720?480/PAL: 720?576; - Sound: monaural; - Power source: USB bus power; - Power consumption: 2W+/-0.1W.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
