Almost the size of a quarter

TRENDnet, one of the world's leading vendors of networking products, has recently announced the launch of its new Mini Wireless N USB Adapter, claiming it to be the world's smallest device in its category. Measuring in at just 1.3 inches (3.3cm), the new Mini Wireless N USB adapter is slightly larger than a U.S. quarter, making for an ideal choice for netbook and notebook users. The device is capable of supporting speeds of up to 150Mbps, faster than the standard that is available on the majority of netbooks or notebooks.

“We have looked high and low and are confident in our claim that the TEW-648UB is the smallest adapter on the market today. In fact it is half the size of the average wireless N USB adapter.” stated Zak Wood, director of global marketing for TRENDnet. “Despite its diminutive size, it performs well. We welcome all independent tests against any other 150Mbps (or 1x1) adapter on the market today. The adapter features an equally small price tag. With a predicted street price in the low $20 range, this adapter sets a new price-to-performance standard.”

Featuring a now traditional USB 2.0 interface and offering support for the IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g and IEEE 802.11n (draft 2.0) wireless standards, the 150Mbps Mini Wireless N USB Adapter can be connected and left attached to the user's computer system. Thanks to its compact design, the device also comes as a possible alternative for computer systems that make use of the slower 802.11b and 802.11g standards.

Coming with support for Microsoft's Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems (Windows 7 is likely to be supported, as well), the new 150Mbps Mini Wireless-N USB adapter from TRENDnet is available online through the manufacturer's website, but also through distribution partners, for an MSRP of US$24.99.
