It appears that BlackBerry Torch 9860's launch in Canada is imminent as Rogers and TELUS dummy units have started to arrive.

Although there is no information regarding the exact release date of the Torch 9860 at Rogers, TELUS has already confirmed that the smartphone will be launched on August 29.

BlackBerry fans who are waiting for the touch-focused Torch 9860 will be able to purchase the device from Rogers or TELUS for a suggested retail price of $524.99 or $199.99 with a new three-year agreement.

The Torch 9860 is one of the new BlackBerry 7 smartphones announced by Research in Motion two weeks ago.

Initially rumored as BlackBerry Monza or Touch, the Torch 9860 comes with a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution and features optical trackpad, proximity sensor for auto-turn off, as well as accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate.

The device is equipped with a 1.2 GHz processor, one of the most powerful CPUs embedded into a BlackBerry smartphone.

Thanks to the new BlackBerry 7 operating system the device offers users a highly responsive touch interface with incredibly fast and smooth graphics.

Even though it does not offers the usual standard QWERTY keyboard, Torch 9860 is features a virtual keypad that should be enough for all needs.

In addition, the handset sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabilization, face detection and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

On the inside, the Torch 9860 packs 8 GB of internal storage, 768 MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), as well as Wi-Fi and NFC capabilities.

When it comes to connectivity, Blackberry Torch 9860 is an all-rounder as it offers users the full array of options, including: Push Email, GPS with A-GPS support (BlackBerry maps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, as well as HSDPA (14.4 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps).
